Summer inspired Christmas cards??... Posted on 04 Nov 11:11 , 0 comments

After my recent trip to Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovnia in September, I was so inspired by the the colour palettes, I just knew I had to create a collection that would compliment the surroundings I so thankfully got to experience. What an amazing part of the world!!

I was lucky enough to spend a week lapping up some sunshine, listen to the soft ebb and flow of The Adriatic and of course, dream up some new Too Wordy designs!

The deep blues, coupled with softer shades of light blue and beige rock inspired two designs including 'If Kisses Were Snowflakes' and 'Christmas Christmas Christmas'. I played around with some colour combinations by layering coloured or white text over block backgrounds.

A late summer holiday wouldn't usually be an obvious source of inspiration for an upcoming Christmas card collection, but somehow the frosty blues and greens of the Kotor Bay sea and the candy floss painted buildings in Mostar make for a perfect Christmas colour palette. Using a mixture of my signature hand lettered type and my latest hand drawn block capital lettering, I played about with my 'Christmas Love' design (which is also available as a super luxurious gold foil print!) by layering some dark pink tones over a light blush wash to mimic the tones of the amazing buildings below, and used same tones on my 'Santa Baby' card and 'All I Want For Christmas' card.

Throughout the design process, it's hugely important to me to create a card that is not just a card, but a miniature print that could be framed and hung in the home, so I hope to see these little beauties decking the halls this Christmas. Tag us in your pics on insta!!

All five brand new designs are now available to purchase in our shop and are waiting for new homes, so get 'em while they're HOT!

Bespoke Wedding Stationery Collection: Gracie + Charlie Posted on 15 Oct 16:54 , 0 comments

My lovely clients, Gracie (one half of fabulous snack bar brand Squirrel Sisters) and her now husband, Charlie, tied the knot yesterday and I'm thrilled to share their gorgeous bespoke wedding stationery collection.

Gracie and I have worked closely together since the beginning of February developing her designs and creating a collection that would tie in with an autumnal wedding with a contemporary twist. Inspired by beautiful tones and textures of eucalyptus, Gracie and Charlie's collection is made up an invitation and information featuring our classic hand lettering typography and printed on beautiful, uncoated, 350gsm, GF Smith papers.

Gracie and Charlie's opted to finish their collection with my hand cut lined navy envelopes, personalised navy tags and a natural twine wrap.

In addition to their beautiful invitations, I also created some 'On The Day' stationery including a table plan, menu cards and table name cards to compliment their theme.

Wishing the happy couple a wonderful life together and thank you for letting me play a small part in your special day!

This Week I'm Loving... Posted on 26 Aug 10:34 , 1 comment

I mentioned a while back that I'd be starting a little 'This Week I'm Loving' post every Friday on my Instagram feed. We all know that I'm obsessed with paper goods whether it be in greeting card or prints form and absolutely anything hand lettered, but as well as all of those gorgeous bits and bobs, I am constantly on the look-out for amazing, creative brands that aren't just about paper! So, here we are...

Every Friday I'll be featuring four of my favourite instagram accounts, giving you a little bit of background about each business, blogger, photographer, stylist or creative and basically just drooling over their amazing products, photographs or artwork.
To kick off this week;

Wicker Wings

These bad boys caught my eye while scrolling through Independent Liverpool's insta feed a few nights ago. Liverpool based Wicker Wings consists of a sister and brother team who have a shared passion for creating products using the purest hand-craftsmanship with the most natural materials. A strong focus on quality, detail and craftsmanship. Wicker Wings put style over trend through creating lasting hand woven wicker handbags.

Lauren Aston Desings

I met fellow Not On the Highstreet partner Lauren a couple of months ago at a NOTHS event and it was lovely to put a face to the name after discovering her amazing, wooly creations months ago

Lauren is the master of super chunky knitted goodies, mainly soft furnishings like ah-mazing blankets, gorgeous footstools and cushions. Her statement knits bring a luxurious WOW factor into people homes, combining the classic art of knitting with up to date, stylish design to enhance living rooms and bedrooms. I can't get enough of her insta feed; cups of tea and peeping toes nestled in a super-sized bed of knitted merino - what could possibly be more heavenly?

Wood + Luxe

I first came across London-based travel and wellness blog Wood + Luxe when blogger and yoga teacher Phoebe Greenacre contacted me to work together on a little collab. I worked with Phoebe on a new look for her blog and have since redesigned her logo and we met in London a couple of moths ago to talk all things insta over herbal tea. Phoebe is one of those people who is not only strikingly beautiful on the outside, but also radiates a beautiful positive energy from the inside.

Wood + Luxe is designed to inspire readers to follow their dreams. By combining travel, wellness and yoga, Wood + Luxe aims to be an online destination of daily motivation, travel tips, wellness hacks, sharing adventures from all over the world.
Phoebe's insta feed is literally To. Die. For. I can be found gazing at her images, transporting myself into her beautiful crystal clear turquoise filled world just for a split second each day and quite honestly, it's a kind of therapy! Phoebe has visited some of my all time favourite places in the last few weeks, so it's been lovely to follow her journey. If you fancy a good daily dose of beautiful scenery coupled with handy travel tips and links uber trendy swimwear brands - she's your girl!

SORT cement

I recently discovered SORT after one of my products was tagged in an image on insta alongside theirs. Another fellow Not On The Highstreet partner SORT make plant pots and candle holders in porcelain cement. I love that all of their products are made completely by hand and remain 100% unique. This goes for their marbled patterns and paint work, meaning every pot has a unique pattern and look.

As well as their beautiful metallic dipped pots they also create absolutely amazing consoles and coffee tables and are definitely on my list of go-to stores for my next interior purchase!

Happy Friday! Maeve xo

Bursting With Thanks Posted on 07 Sep 17:17 , 0 comments

Anyone who knows me will know I'm a BIG Insta fan (that's Instagram from those of you who ain't down with the lingo). It's by far my favourite platform and in my humble opinion the best form of social networking. Aside from it bursting at the seams with inspirational images (it's addictive to say the least), it has a real sense of 'community'. I absolutely love connecting with my followers and discovering new and exciting brands I may never have stumbled upon.

Multi award winning superfood supplement brand Organic Burst was one of those! I probably would have stumbled across them at some point (I mean let's face it - they're HUGE!) but perhaps not in the same way... I'm now totally obsessed with their products and suffer severe withdrawals if I run out (that's a complete overreaction included purely for dramatic effect) ...basically I love their stuff.

So as you can imagine, it was a total delight when one sunny Tuesday afternoon a lovely little email pinged into my inbox from Organic Burst Co-Founder, Katya. #collaborationalert !! After some discussion (Katya: Would you like to collaborate? Me: HELL YES!) we have since worked together to create ten hand lettered notecards each carrying a special 'OB style' quote. Organic Burst customers will find these little collectable cards of joy popped into every order placed through their site and will hopefully spread a little love, happiness and joy around the globe!

Keep your eyes peeled and get collecting!

If you fancy a glowing from the inside out, join the club! www.organicbust.com

Inhale/Exhale Posted on 24 Jul 15:00 , 1 comment

My Freedom Collection prints kicked off a bit of an inspirational path for me recently. After featuring on the amazing Sophie's Blend (a totally awesome health and lifestyle blog fronted by Sophie Bradshaw if you didn't already know!) I've since been thinking about bringing more health and wellbeing into my desgins.

Enter, 'Inhale / Exhale'... a print with yoga bunnies in mind! Simple and clean and desinged to bring a sense of peace, calm and balance into a room. Whether it's hung in a bedroom, yoga studio, bathroom or work space - I'm thinking it'll work pretty much anywhere! Currently being road tested in my studio - I shall report back!
